Capability. It's what Expedition is all about
Expedition is quite simply the do-it-all SUV. A standard 5.4L V8 delivers 310 horsepower and 365 lb.-ft. of torque -- enough to pull up to 9,200 lbs. when properly equipped. When the road goes from dry to filled with snow, ice or gravel, the available Control Trac® Four-Wheel-Drive (4WD) System helps provide more sure-footed traction. The independent rear suspension helps ensure your trips are comfortable, on smooth and rough roads alike. Capability. It defines what the Expedition is all about.
V8 Power
The 5.4L V8 is engineered to put the torque where it's needed most -- delivering 85 percent of peak torque at just 1,500 rpm. That's important for pulling a big load from a dead stop. Multivalve technology (three valves per cylinder) allows the engine to breathe freely, increasing horsepower. The 5.4L engine generates 310 horsepower and 365 lb.-ft. of torque. All that power is transmitted to the drive wheels by way of a 6-speed automatic transmission. Its wide 6-gear spread helps the engine generate lots of low-end torque (for tasks such as towing) and provide efficient operation in 6th gear overdrive on the highway. This engine is also flex-fuel capable, so you can run on E85 fuel, gasoline, or any mix of the two.
Big Towing Capability
If you need to tow a large boat or camper-trailer, Expedition has the capability you can call on. The standard 5.4L V8 delivers 310 horsepower and 365 lb.-ft. of torque, giving the Expedition 4x2 regular-length model a maximum 9,200-lb. towing capacity when properly equipped with the available Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package. (The Expedition EL has a maximum towing capacity of 8,900 lbs.) Expedition features standard Trailer Sway Control. It works in conjunction with AdvanceTrac® with RSC (Roll Stability Control™) to determine from the yaw motion of the vehicle if the trailer is swaying and takes measures, such as applying precise braking or reduced engine torque, to help bring both vehicle and trailer under control.*

A full-size measure of protection.
Avoiding an accident takes driving skill, along with a complementary suite of well-engineered active safety features, such as 4-wheel disc anti-lock brakes, AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™, Traction Control System and Tire Pressure Monitoring System, all standard on the Ford Expedition SUV. But should the unavoidable occur, rest assured you and your passengers are well protected by a sturdy safety shell, side intrusion door teams, a comprehensive system of six airbags, and the SOS Post-Crash Alert System. Keyless Entry System, SecuriCode™ keyless entry keypad, plus Perimeter Alarm System are security features that also come standard on every Ford Expedition.
SOS Post-Crash Alert System™
Ford Expedition is equipped with the SOS Post-Crash Alert System™.* When the airbags** are deployed or safety belt pretensioner is activated, the horn and emergency flashers activate to help first responders locate the vehicle. The system is deactivated using your key fob.
Street-Smart Technology.
Ford Expedition offers advanced technology to help keep you in touch with your environment and make life easier on the road. The available voice-activated Navigation System with SiriusXM Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link, among its many capabilities, can help you find local fuel prices and get traffic updates.* The multifaceted Ford SYNC® responds to your voice commands** to let you use your Bluetooth®-enabled phone and MP3 player. And this year, Expedition adds a helpful convenience you'll surely appreciate -- a convex spotter in the outside mirrors to alert you to a vehicle in your blind spot. Expedition helps you be more street-smart than ever.
Rear View Camera
The available Rear View Camera can help you see what's behind your vehicle and aid you when hooking up a trailer. It provides a video image of the area behind your vehicle on the interior rearview mirror (or on the available navigation screen, if equipped). Activated automatically when you shift Expedition into Reverse, the Rear View Camera can alert you to certain objects behind your vehicle. Using the red, yellow, green and center guidelines on the display, you can align your vehicle with a trailer hitch behind your vehicle. The Rear View Camera is standard on Limited and King Ranch®; optional on XLT.
